Happy Halloween everyone!!! Have fun and stay safe! And be sure to get lots of candy! Cause you know when you take it away from the kids you keep it for yourself. Ha!

Are you gonna hit up any half off Halloween sales tomorrow? Think I'm going to Target, but one of my favorite places to shop for everything Halloween and Christmas decor is the thrift stores. Not only cause of the great prices but you can find some really cool vintage style decorations there. Look what I picked up this year! His head bobbles! This unique little fella only set me back $1.21!!! Think it's paper mache.
Isn't he cute?

Check out what one of our readers did with our freebie Halloween printables. Thanks for sharing Gwen, they came out great!

New Adoption Families and Adoption Auction Reminder

Friday, October 29, 2010

Just want to share the latest 3 families that have been added to the adoption fund raising efforts!

Noel and Donna Dear

God has truly blessed our family over the years. We stand in awe of his blessings that we do not deserve. My husband is a senior pastor in Ohio, but we are originally from MS and AL. We just celebrated 15 years of marriage this summer. We were not sure if we would be able to have children, but through God's goodness He blessed us with 2 beautiful daughters. Adoption was talked about, but nothing ever serious. We have several friends who have adopted both domestically and internationally. I would feel little nudges that maybe we should think about it, but I would push those thoughts back. I was happy with our family of four.

Over the past year or so, the nudging from the Lord became louder. The movie "The Blind Side" came out, and when we left the movie I made a little joke about adopting, and my husband said yes. Again, I pushed it aside. My husband has always been ready I believe. Our church has helped orphans in Kenya, and has had a friend of ours come in and talk about adoption. This past summer we were at the Southern Baptist Convention and there was a big push for ministers to step up and help out the millions of orphans around the world or to help families who are adopting. During one of the speakers, God spoke to me and told me it was time. No more putting it off. When he spoke of how the girls that are not adopted could potentially spend a life that I would not want my daughters in, I just knew that is what our family should do. The funny thing was that I was going to bring it up at dinner, and my husband was the first to do so, and I just said YES! I am ready.

Several have said, why another girl - it is what God has laid on our hearts - a special needs girls from China. We want to show this girl the love of a family as well as the love of a Father that has known about this before we did. We didn't know originally where when we started, but God has lead us to China and the agency we chose.

We are so excited to grow our family through adoption! We met in 2004 and were inseparable from the start! We dated for two years and were married in 2006. After struggling to start a family for a few years we decided to pursue adoption. As soon as we started looking into adoption we knew it was God's plan for us. It seems like we jumped one hurdle after another during our fertility treatments but as soon as we started the adoption process everything just fell into place. It has been absolutely amazing watching God's hands at work in our lives! Our family is so happy for us and our decision! They have been doing everything they can to help us bring our little one home. We are working with Christian Family Care in Phoenix, Arizona and couldn't be happier with them. They have been such a wealth of information and have helped guide us through this scary, yet thrilling adventure. We are truly blessed to be embarking on such an amazing journey!

Rob and Tabby Whapham
Howdy Ya’ll! We are from a small town in Texas and we have been married for 11 years. We are blessed to have 3 amazing kids, Brittney (21), Daniel(16), and Grace (8). Our family is a testimony to how amazing God’s grace is and what wonders He can do with a blended family.

With our oldest daughter approaching the age of marriage we honestly never thought we would be adding another member to our family, unless it was a grandbaby! However, God had different plans. It’s been almost 10 months ago now that God laid an incredible burden for the orphans of this world on my heart. Like Sarah in the bible, I laughed when I felt He was leading us down this path and promised to ‘pray’ about it. Over the next several months that burden deepened and God truly broke my heart for these children. I did not seek out His plan as steadfastly as I should have and yet He still brought me face-to-face with information, people, adoptees, and offered confirmation in my daily life that led me time and again back to these tiny people.

When we as a family begin to talk and pray about adopting, there was no doubt in any of our minds that this was where God was leading us…and the confirmations kept coming. We really began to understand the charge in the Word to look after the widows, homeless and orphans.

We are excited and terrified at this prospect! More than all of that, we are holding fast to the promises that God has made for us…and for this little person. A promise for a 'hope and a future.' And so we step out in faith trusting that He will make a way where there seems to be no way.

Thank you for being willing to share in our journey. You can follow along at: http://www.wewant1more.blogspot.com/

(CLOSED) Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Friday, October 22, 2010

I'm sure you already know this but October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many have been affected by this ugly disease in one way or another. I have an aunt who is a Survivor!!! And my mother in-law lost her battle with breast cancer the same year I married my husband. By the way her bear is doing awesome!!!

So while you are enjoying some fun fall festivities please remember the people that are dealing with breast cancer and say a little prayer for them!

A local bakery was selling these and donating profits to beast cancer! Of course I had to get one!

And if you have been affected by breast cancer you'll want to check out this song below. Matthew West has this album called The Story of Your Life. Where basically he asked people to write him the stories of their lives and he took those stories and made songs for them. It's pretty awesome! This one is about beast cancer.

And because I'm all about the pink ribbon, I made one of these for one of you! A sterling silver awareness ribbon and a the word hope above a pink glass bead on a sterling silver box chain.

Win it by leaving a comment on this post! We will announce the winner sometime on Monday!

Has your life been affected by breast cancer?

DIY Halloween/Fall Soap Favors and Printables

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

These are so simple you'll want to make tons! They are fun for the kids too! So we've got a tutorial for ya! Be sure to grab the printables below too!

What you need ↓.

Clear Glycerin Soap ($10 Dollars for 2 lbs.(makes about 15 soaps) at Michael's - used 50% off coupon to get it for $5 yeah!)
Cupcake Pans ($1 each at Dollar Tree we got 2 - not sure if you want to use your baking one's or not. UPDATE - You do not want to use your baking pans because your food will taste like soap after that.
• Small Toys to fit in cupcake pan. (We got balls and bracelets at Target.) Caution - Small toys are a choking hazard. These are not intended for small children.
• Soap Scent if desired. This is optional. I like my soap to smell good!
• Med. to Large Microwave safe Measuring Cup
• Small spray bottle of alcohol. (not pictured)

1. Place small toys of your choice into each cupcake spot.

2. Cut soap into small cubes and put in microwave safe measuring cup. Melt in microwave according to the directions on the package.

3. Once fully melted add sent if desired per instructions on scent packaging.

4. Pour melted soap into cupcake pan right over the toys. One of the fun parts! Try to only pour soap if you have enough to fill the entire cup. If there is not enough to fill the cup but you still some left you can remelt it later when you add more.

5. Quickly spray a couple of times with the alcohol to pop the small bubbles.

6. Set aside and let cool. Try not to move them when they are setting up. They should look something like this at this point.

7. Next I like to place them in the freezer for a few minutes. This seems to make them pop out of the pan fairly easy. Do not leave them in the freezer too long or they will get condensation on them when you pull them out. It is okay if that happens it just takes a long time for them to dry.

8. Turn pan over and push on each cup on the back side to pop them out. They will then look something like the photo below. These have that condensation I was talking about. They are actually pretty clear when that dries.

And here they are again on the other side. Notice the toys are sticking out. That does not bother me at all but if it does you then you may want to select smaller toys. (Condensation again UGH! Dry already would ya!)

9. Once that condensation dried and they were ready to handle we wrapped them in plastic wrap and sealed them with a Halloween label! So cute!
Elements for labels from Just so Scrappy.

At my kid's school they actually do not celebrate Halloween so we used fall labels instead and will be gifting one to each classmate and Teacher of course! How fun! These would even be great for Christmas with Christmas toys! Maybe we will post some Christmas labels in the future! What do you think?

Below are the printable labels for you to use! Print them on full sheet label paper and punch with a circle punch to make labels or print on card stock and punch to make hang tags or cupcake toppers! You could also use a circle punch with a scalloped edge. So pretty!

Hope you enjoy them please let us know if you do!

For each printable below click on the image to enlarge, click it again to enlarge even more, right click and save to your computer. Then open and print.

And the fall labels! Enjoy!

Favorite Bible Verse

Monday, October 18, 2010

There are tons of verses in the Bible that I absolutely love and can relate to and totally pull me through when having a bad day. There is one though that I like to consider my favorite.

Proverbs 3:6
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

When I am unclear or uncertain about what to do or which direction to go I fall back on this verse. Acknowledge Him. In everything you do. In every part of your life and in every decision you shall make and He will direct you. Listen for His guidance. Feel his tug telling you what to do. And even if you have made the wrong decision it is never too late to heed the advice of this verse. He will pick you up and direct you at any point that you decide to acknowledge Him and live your life for Him. God is good!

What Bible verse do you consider your favorite? Why?

Do you like to be alone?

Friday, October 15, 2010

I do. I enjoy being alone. I can actually hear my thoughts and clearly focus on anything when I am alone and all seems calm. When did I start to enjoy being alone? I think when one has children being alone becomes more appealing. Not that one doesn't enjoy being with their children but it's nice to have alone time. And though I fully appreciate my alone time I don't think I would want to be alone forever. It is always nice to have "them" back after your alone time.

Some don't like to be alone. Why?

I recently came across this video and I thought it was beautiful. I'd like to share it with you.

• Pregnant wives may like this, if her wedding band is getting a bit snug, get one of these (in a larger size) as a temporary replacement. Then when she's ready to wear her wedding set again move this ring to another finger.

Skull Candlesticks

Monday, October 11, 2010

These skull candlesticks are quick, easy and they look cool too! And the best part, they are super affordable!

From the Dollar Tree we have glitter skulls $1 each and a 2 pack of battery powered tealight candles $1 for the pack. The wooden candlesticks are from a thrift store and paid a whole 74 cents for the set!

Here's how we did it! First painted the wooden candlesticks black with paint we already had. When dry we hot glued the glitter skulls to the candlesticks. Trace the tealight on top of the skull and carefully use a box cutter blade to cut it out! Take out pieces of skull to make way for your tealight. If you make a couple of X cuts in the area you want to remove the pieces come out easier.

How's that for some super cool skull candlesticks that only cost $3.74 for the set!? Pretty great I'll say! They look so neat in person. These are great for Halloween decor but would also be perfect for a pirate theme party.

Dollar Store Halloween Decor

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Halloween is fun, but not into creepy or gory at all! Scary movies...ah no! Not for me either! A touch of Halloween around the house is fun though. Our decor is minimal and more fall, cutesy, kid friendly, except for this new one.

I've kinda had a thing for skulls for quite some time now and really starting to like crows. (My dark side lol!) This is the extent of our "scary" decor.

All items are from the Dollar Tree, including a vase, cool crow, bag of skulls and moss.

Throw in a bit of hot glue and you have yourself a cool new Halloween decoration! Glue moss to rim of vase, glue on the crow, glue on the skull, then drop all other skulls into the vase. All done!

Not bad eh? I can't tell if it's just a crow with a really cool skull collection or if that crow has a nest with skulls for eggs. Either way I think it's cool! How about you?

(CLOSED) Do you do bento lunches? & A Giveaway

Friday, October 1, 2010

Remember this very cool giveaway for all these goodies HERE from Another Lunch? Well guess who won! Yep! We did! And I must say bento lunches are pretty cool! My boy loves them! All of the goodies we won are very fun to use! She even threw in an extra bento box and these!
Thank you Another Lunch!

Keep in mind I'm just a bento beginner, but here are a few of our lunches! You can't really tell in the photo but that sandwich is a doghouse with a puppy punched out, in the center.

He loves these little rolls. Flattened wheat bread, cream cheese, salami and roll em up!
Sick a pick in it!
Are those little sauce bottles cute or what?
Bento lunches sure are fun but what is even better is the fact that they are waste free. Well except that Capri Sun. I also always try to throw in one of these printable lunchbox cards! My kid likes the cards as much as the lunch! He even asks, "is there gonna be a note in my lunch?"

If you need inspiration for bento lunches I suggest you check out Another Lunch. She has some really fun ideas over there! I'd really like to try the egg shapers!

One of the things in our prize package was this book by Susan Yuen. Want it???
We'd like to pass it on to one lucky winner!

Just leave a comment, or tell us which product we should try next for our bento lunches!
Blog, tweet or facebook this giveaway or follow this blog for extra entries!
Good Luck!
