Things are looking pretty around here. Perfect weather coming soon! And just about the perfect time to get some teacup bird feeders made.

I needed a last-minute gift cause yeah I procrastinate on things like that! And since I love to thrift shop I have plenty of cups and saucers around and was able to whip this up in a day!

Now you can't wait till the last minute, last minute cause you have to let the glue dry but at least 24 hrs in advance should do. Is it not the most adorable bird feeder ever?! I had to snag a picture!

Hi friends! I recently had a sweet follower ask about Ella's Bear. It has now been over a year that my husband transplanted his mom's bear. You can read about that here. I am happy to report that she is doing fantastic!!! Current picture.

I need to figure a way to attach a pink ribbon to her. In memory of Ella. Got any ideas???

I am sooo loving being out in the yard this spring! I think cause the boys are a bit bigger. Since I had them I have not wanted to be out working in my garden like I used to.

One thing in particular I am excited about is my Dichondra seed that is taking off!!!

I planted this stuff last year with no luck! Totally my fault as I did not plant it at the proper time. It was too hot! Which happens quite soon here in sunny CA. And this year!!! Yay!! I hope to show you this entire area this summer. It is gonna be beautiful!

Now some questions for my gardening friends. I showed you a picture of my cherry blossoms in the last post. This cherry tree was here when we moved in almost 6 years ago and last year was the first year it blossomed. I got all excited thinking yay cherries but then nothing. 

1. Is it normal for a cherry tree to have no blossoms the first few years? 

2. Is it normal to have no cherries the first year that it does blossom?

This year I was not expecting much from the blossoms thinking I got a non producing cherry tree. Then I see this!

3. Is that a cherry my friends?! Please confirm that this is a cherry! 

And a few more pictures to help you determine.

My final question, if this little tree does produce cherries this year, should it continue to produce them every year after this?

I love winter, I love fall, I don't care for summer, but there is just something about nature awakening from hibernation in the spring time. Absolutely beautiful!

And my fig tree, my big lovely fig tree. I took some time but oh how I have grown quite fond of you ole tree.

 With your lovely new leaves. And your sweet growing fruit.

 Just look at that fruit.

Thank you Lord for blessing me with this beauty we call spring.

Oh how He must love us to surround us with this beauty.

I've been making these Tea Cup Bird Feeders for years and thought you might like to make one too! You know now that spring is here. The Birdies just might like this. 

Materials 

Cup and Saucer

Spoon

1/2 inch Copper Pipe (Plumbing section of a hardware store.) Side Note: I get several emails saying that the copper pipe is just too expensive however, I would like to point out that for about $10-$12 you can actually get about 3 stands when cut down to size. I don't think that's too bad!

1/2 inch Copper Cap (Also in the plumbing section of a hardware store.)

Sandpaper

All-Purpose Adhesive (E6000 works best!)

Birdseed

Water

1. With sandpaper, lightly sand the bottom of the cup. 

2. Lightly sand the top of the saucer where the cup will sit. This will allow for a better bond.

3. Apply the adhesive around the base of the cup where it will touch the saucer.

4. Attach the cup to the saucer, press firmly. Add weight to the top while drying, books work good.

5. Sand the bottom of the spoon and the small spot on the saucer where the spoon will sit.

6. Apply adhesive to the spoon. I also apply adhesive to the stem of the spoon where it will hit the edge of the saucer.

7. Attach spoon to the saucer. Press down firmly. This perch is for the birds! he! he!

8. Now this next step is the hardest but it must be done properly if you want it to last. You must wait for the adhesive to properly dry/cure before moving on. :) This must be done and could take up to 24 hrs. Read the directions on whichever adhesive you select for dry time.

9. Once the adhesive is dry, turn the cup and saucer upside down and sand a small spot in the center of the saucer.

10. Sand the top of the 1/2 inch copper cap.

11. Apply adhesive to the copper cap.

12. Attach the copper cap to the bottom of the saucer. Pressing firmly again add weight to the top as it is drying.

13. Now again you must allow this to properly dry. This seems like forever! But you need to let it dry for the proper time if you want it to last.

14. Place the copper pipe in the ground.  

15. Place the Tea Cup Bird Feeder on top, by placing the pipe in the cap that is attached to the bottom of the saucer. My copper pipe is about 3 feet tall but you can make it any desired height. Smaller heights are good for pots.

16. Add water to the cup and birdseed to the saucer and let the birdies enjoy!

These will last for several years. This one below is one of my favorites and is about 6 years old! It is still very sturdy! And does not need any repairs and never has needed any repairs. I did use the E600 on this one. I love it!

Many of you have expressed lately that you are tired of winter and you can't wait until spring. I however cannot share these feelings. Having a mild winter but with more than usual rain (not enough for me though), I still am not tired of winter.
