Thrifty Love {link party #21}

Friday, March 23, 2012

Hello friends and welcome back to another edition of Thrifty Love. I hope you've all been able to get out and find something neat!

I have a quick question if you don't mind taking a moment to answer in the comments box. How important is it that the link collection below have the little thumbnail images each week? To me it's not a big deal but what are your thoughts? Is that something you'd like to see here or are you cool with just the text links? Thanks for taking a moment to answer!

Thanks to all who linked up last week now lets take a look at some of the great things you found.
Sweetpea's GoodJunks found these vintage bingo cards.
I'd love to display these in my living room somehow.

Salt & Wine found some milk-glass candlesticks.

Messy Merci picked up 2 typewriters including this one.

And for some of my goodies this week! I love sharing my things here cause if I'm unsure what something is I can ask you and someone here usually knows. Like my Pyrex bottles from last week and like this one for instance. I'm not exactly sure what it is use for. I think it's a spoon rest and that is how I plan on using it. See the opening on the side. But is it REALLY a spoon rest? I've never EVER seen one in this type of glass or vintage style. ???

Next is this great desk calendar. Love it!

And this really neat milk-glass, Virgo coffee cup dated 1976.

Thinking of giving it to my friend for her bday, she's a Virgo, however she does not drink coffee. Hum???

I also picked up a few other things that you may or may not see in the background of these photos. I'm gonna save those for next week. Hope you don't mind.

Were you able to get out lately and find anything?
If you'd like to snag the button it's on the sidebar over there

  1. I know the thumbnail images cost money, but I think they drive more traffic than text links.

  2. I prefer the thumbnail images. That is usually what catches my eye in a link party and tempts me to click on that individual post. Sorry it costs more......

  3. I have to agree with the other ladies, I think the thumbnail link is better for drawing people in as as well as prompting them to check out other blogs.

On a different note, I love the Virgo milk-glass coffee mug (really pretty). And, thank you so much for featuring my find in this post! :):):)

  4. Thanks for the input! I too think the thumbnails look pretty but do they slow page loading time? I dislike slow loading pages.

  5. Thanks for hosting. I'm #7. :-) I added your button in my sidebar and also here: http://simply-saving.com/frugal-simple-living-blog-hops-link-parties/

I also posted about it here: http://www.scoop.it/t/simplysaving and on our facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/simplysaving

As for the thumbnails....I sometimes have a problem with adding a picture on other linkys.

  6. Yes I believe they do slow the loading time. And I go to a few blogs that have so many that it does take forever. But really, I don't think I would click on the link if it didn't have a thumbnail to entice me to go there. I browse through the pictures. Perhaps you could limit the time you leave your link open or limit the number that can join to keep the party from getting too big and taking so long to load. Thanks for hosting!

  7. 20 dollars for the whole year of thumbnails is not a bad price!! also it makes commenting easier if you take off the captcha codes--we all know not to click on the links in spam comments!!

  9. I'm on the fence about the thumbnail issue. I think they're nice and definitely drive traffic, but it's a bummer you have to pay for them! I absolutely LOVE your desk calendar. As an archetypal virgo, I'm also liking that mug. :) Thanks again for hosting!

  10. That's got to be a spoon rest, but I've never seen one like that either! Very neat!

  12. Your spoon rest, is actually a silverware holder. Stack spoons or forks, they are great for parties. I have one too! Thank you for featuring my bingo cards!
