My oldest who's now 7 absolutely loves the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. All of them! So it was no surprise when he selected this as the theme for his party. We kept it small and pretty simple.
Invitations
Went with the "cheese touch" for our invitation. Firm believer that the invitation sets the tone for your party. How about you? Our invitations looked like the nasty piece of cheese from the story! I decided I wanted it to look like it was in the wrapper too.
To make these we simply printed our party details on yellow card stock. We were able to fit 4 on one reg. 8.5x11 sheet. Cut each into squares and punch holes around the wording with a 1 inch circle punch and a regular hole puncher. We used a brown ink pad and a green ink pad for the yucky detail. (You can pick up colored ink pads in the dollar section at craft stores.) Then we placed them into a cellophane bag that was just the right fit and folded the top of the bag back and sewed each edge.
Tables/ Decor
This was our only decor for this party and it was a last minute thing. Seriously like 30 minutes before party time! Oh no what about decorations? I know I know! Wimpy Kid books!!! We have all five of them so they worked out perfectly. Simply tie on some balloons and you have yourself a perfect Diary of a Wimpy Kid decoration. Love it!
Activities
Since Diary of a Wimpy Kid is about a boy and his
Party Favors
We made Wimpy Kid tags and printed them on label paper to make the stickers. We filled the bags with the Wimpy Kid inspired items below.
Handmade keychains made using the tutorial by Little Blue Boo.
Wimpy Kid journals i mean diaries, personalized with each child's name. Got this idea from Seaside Interiors.
Candy with a fun bag topper.
We also threw in a pencil for writing in their diaries and a toy cockroach.
Fun stuff those goodie bags! I love me a good goodie bag! We had a blast!
Is anyone interested in the printables? I'm thinking of posting them for you all to snag. I have the diary labels, goodie bag labels, chocolate bag toppers and keychain art. Let me know.
• UPDATE • The printable items are now available for free download on our website! You can pick them up HERE.
