Part 2 of the Cheese Dome

Remember the cheese dome and how I used the bottom part to create this over sized button?

Well lets take a look at what I did with the top of that cheese dome. Couldn't have that top part going to waste! Here's what I started with.

To the glass cover I added this chunky wooden candle stick. First I made the candle hole larger. Large enough for the handle of the dome to fit into. I painted the candle stick and antiqued it. Lastly I glued (E6000) the cheese dome upside down to the candle stick.

And Walla! A lovely pedestal bowl!

Totally love how this one came out! And love my little thrift store balls in there! All parts for this piece were picked up at the thrift store! Yeah way to up-cycle! Go me! lol!

Just a shot of the inside, glued part.

And from another angle just in case you need details!

Ahhhh! So pretty! Do you want one?
What have you created lately?

Too cute right?
This is what my hubby does in the wee hours of the morning. Watch the hummingbirds bathe in our fountain.
He was able to snap a few photos one morning when everyone else was asleep.
Does anyone else notice anything in the water in the photo above or is it just me?
So if you guessed bird yesterday you were right! This little fella was hiding in yesterdays photo!

Blog Tip: Outbound Links Open in a New Window

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Here's a great and handy tip for you bloggers. Don't ya hate it when you add a link in your blog post and it leads people away from your blog? I sure do!

Well, did you know there's a tiny bit of code that you can add to make ALL outgoing links open in a new window? It's very easy to add to your blog.

You simply add a gadget in your design area and select add "HTML/JavaScript", paste the code and save. Now all outgoing links will open in a new window but links that link to your own blog will not! (Hate when I click on home and it opens in a new window.)

This handy tip comes from The Munson's Apps. They were super helpful in helping me do this! Click on over to The Munson's Apps to get the code. And check out their other many tips. Also like their facebook page and let them know Cap Creations sent you.

The Munson\

A BIG thank you Munson's Apps for this fab tip! We love it! Go ahead and click on a link and see how it will open in a new window! Then click on an internal link and see how it doesn't. Love that!

Button Collection

Collections! We've all got them! Be it antenna balls, antique/vintage finds from thrift stores (love my random plates/creamer dishes and other) or buttons. Yes I have each of these collections and more. lol! Today I will share my button collection. The collection that inspired my big ole button!

My collection started off pretty lonely. This milk bottle full of buttons has taken me several years to fill. Buttons of various styles in bulk are actually pretty hard to come by. Unless you want to pay big bucks for them that is.
Well Grandma Susie, my husbands grandma was getting rid of some stuff recently and when I saw the buttons (and thread) I couldn't help myself! Buuuuuuuuttonnnnns, I need buttons.....while gravitating toward them like a zombie. Lol!

I was able to fill this big jar with her stray buttons! And.....
...take a look at these!
Still on their packaging and oh so lovely.

So my collection went from one lonely milk bottle full to all this! Yay for buttons!
Thank you Grandma Susie! I love my new to me buttons!

So what is it that you collect? Or do you have too many collections to count?

DIY Cheese Dome to Button {Wall Decor}

Monday, July 11, 2011

Button button who's got the button? - Willy Wonka  Oh wait a minute! I do! lol! This is a fun and simple project with the most adorable outcome.

I picked up this cheese dome at a thrift shop. Cause life is just not complete without a trip to the thrift shop! Ya know what I mean?

I removed the dome and the small rubber feet off the bottom, which were held on with 3 tiny screws. I then marked 4 spots on the front center area for holes. My husband helped me with this next part BUT it was very simple and you could do it yourself. He was offering to help so why not? Using a circle drill bit drill 4 small holes like a button. Then paint!

How cute! I added some antiquing and a small sawtooth hanger to the backside. It's the perfect little wall decor for any craft or sewing room! Also looks adorable on a small easel. I am temped to add some x shape string (shoestring, rope ???) to the holes to look like thread! Yeah, no, what do you think?

Come back soon to see my inspiration for this project. And soon I'll share what I do with the top glass part of this cheese dome!

Hello friends! I wanted to take a moment to share these short little videos with you. We each have our own personal issues and struggles with our weight. This guy in the videos is my brother Dave. He has lost over 200 lbs. and has done it all natural! He was overweight most of our lives and has accomplished a goal that at one time he thought was not possible. I am so proud of him! Very proud of him!

Anyway Dave has started a new YouTube channel in hopes of reaching out to others during their struggles with weight loss. He's very encouraging guys! The first video brings me to tears because I have seen him live though these struggles I have witnessed first hand him dealing with these problems and much more.

Check out the videos and go ahead and pay him a visit at his blog This Little Piggy Went to the Gym and at his YouTube channel and follow him if you like!
